Stock splitThe mega-retailer announced a 3-for-1 stock split that takes effect this week. A stock split means a single share gets split into multiple shares. Under the plan Walmart announced, people who own shares by close of business on February 22 will get two additional new shares of Walmart for every share they own.

In fact, 63% of Americans are setting savings goals in 2023, a recent Bank of America survey found. Last year, 44% of Americans said they hoped to save for retirement, but that number fell to 22% this year. As a result, 77% of Americans who set financial resolutions said inflation may impact their ability to achieve them. "With an uncertain economic outlook for 2023, setting financial goals and saving for bigger purchases can seem daunting," Droesch says. And Amazon generates more than one-quarter of US ecommerce sales for every category other than auto/parts. There are two verticals where Amazon receives the majority of US ecommerce sales: books/music/video (83.2% of all US ecommerce sales in 2021) and computer/consumer electronics (50.2%). The ecommerce giant will receive more than 45% of US ecommerce sales dollars this year in three additional categories: "other" (48.2%), toys/hobby (46.0%), and office equipment/supplies (45.6%). Another way of looking at it: Amazon will receive more than one-quarter of US ecommerce sales dollars for every category other than auto/parts. Apparel/accessories is Amazon's second-largest sales generator in the US, making up 16% of its total US ecommerce sales in 2021.
